π Why Weβre Learning This
In real-world civic technology projects, teamwork is essential. Seniors build leadership by mentoring juniors while also strengthening their own portfolios.

1) Warm-Up (Tech Journal, 5 min)
βThink about someone who has mentored or supported you in school or life. What made them effective?β
2) Mini-Lesson (10 min)
- Topic: βWhat does a mentor do?β
- Guidance, patience, modeling, accountability.
- Tie to civic tech β mentorship = leadership in tech projects.
3) Guided Practice (15 min)
- Groups: List possible challenges juniors may face in the survey sprint (ex: writing unbiased questions, cleaning data, using Forms).
- Share lists with class.
4) Independent Work (12β15 min)
- Students fill out Civic Tech Mentor Log (Part 1):
- Write one goal for themselves as a mentor this week.
- Identify 1β2 strategies to support juniors.
5) Wrap-Up (2β3 min)
