Project management is about breaking big tasks into achievable steps. This skill is essential for mentoring and supporting real civic tech projects.
🧭 Agenda (47–50 min)
1) Warm-Up (Tech Journal, 5 min)
“Think of a time a group project went badly. What caused it — lack of planning, time, or communication?”
2) Mini-Lesson (10 min)
- Topic: “Why projects fail”
- Unrealistic scope, weak planning, poor communication.
- Preview PM tools → task lists, Kanban, timelines.
3) Guided Practice (15 min)
- Groups: Brainstorm how to apply planning tools to juniors’ survey sprint.
- List tasks → assign roles hypothetically.
4) Independent Work (12–15 min)
- Fill out Project Management Journal (Part 1):
- Write one project goal for this week.
- Identify one tool or habit they will practice (checklists, timelines, etc.).
5) Wrap-Up (2–3 min)
