Learning Intention
I will set a realistic personal goal for learning automation and practice creating a custom keyboard shortcut on my Chromebook.
✅ Success Criteria
- [ ] I can create and test at least one custom Chromebook shortcut.
- [ ] I can describe one realistic goal for what I want to achieve with automation this unit.
- [ ] I can explain why starting small is important in technical learning.
🌍 Why We’re Learning This
Shortcuts and automation save time, reduce errors, and increase efficiency. Starting with something simple like custom shortcuts prepares us for more advanced automation with scripts later in the unit.
🧭 Agenda (47–50 min)
1) Warm-Up (Tech Journal, 5 min)
“What’s one task you repeat so often on your Chromebook that it feels like a waste of time? How could a shortcut make it easier?”
2) Mini-Lesson (10 min)
- Teacher demo:
- Go to Settings → Device → Keyboard.
- Show how to remap keys (e.g., Search → Caps Lock, Ctrl, or Alt).
- Explain: This is the first layer of “automation.”
- Discuss: Why does it matter to customize your tools?
3) Guided Practice (15 min)
- Students open settings and create one custom key remap.
- Pair-share: Show partner your shortcut and explain how it helps you.
- Class debrief: List useful remaps on the board.
4) Independent Work (15 min)
