🌍 Why Are We Learning This?

When you build websites, you don’t just design layouts—you handle people’s information. Laws exist to protect users from harm, and ignoring them can damage trust, careers, and real people. Knowing the rules helps you design safer systems on purpose.

🧠 Warm-Up — Tech Journal Prompt

Write 4–5 sentences:

Think about a website or app you use that asks for your data (name, location, birthday, email, etc.).

• What do they collect?
• Do you feel comfortable with it? Why or why not?

📚 Vocabulary

Add these to your Tech Dictionary:

• Data Privacy – The right of a person to control how their personal information is collected, used, and shared.
• Personally Identifiable Information (PII) – Data that can identify a specific person (name, email, address, ID number, etc.).
• Consent – Clear permission given by a user to collect or use their data.
• Data Breach – When protected or confidential information is accessed, stolen, or exposed without authorization.
