🎯 Learning Intention
Today I will describe how cloud computing changes data storage and security responsibilities for organizations.
✅ Success Criteria
I can explain shared responsibility in the cloud model and identify which tasks are managed by vendors vs. users.
🌍 Why Are We Learning This?
Cloud computing is everywhere—knowing who’s responsible for which part keeps data secure and organizations compliant.
🧠 Warm-Up – Tech Journal Prompt
💡 “Think of apps or services you use every day. Are they running on your device or in the cloud? Why does it matter?”
📚 Word of the Day
Shared Responsibility
Definition: In cloud computing, split duties between the service provider (security of the cloud) and user (security in the cloud).
Sentence: “We secure our passwords, but the provider secures the servers.”
Why it matters: Mistakes happen when people assume someone else is handling all the security!
📣 Lecture & Guided Discussion
Review shared responsibility using AWS/Azure/Google Cloud diagrams.
Sort tasks: Is this the user’s or the vendor’s job? (Encryption, patching, backups, network access, etc.)
✅ CFU: Pick a task and explain who handles it and why.
