π― Learning Intention
I will learn how the triple constraint of project management (scope, time, and cost) shapes every project.
β
Success Criteria
- [ ] I can define scope, time, and cost in project management
- [ ] I can identify how changing one factor affects the others
- [ ] I can apply the triple constraint to a real or hypothetical project
π Why this matters
Every project is a balancing act. If you expand the scope (more tasks), you need more time or money. If you cut time, you may need to shrink scope or increase cost. Understanding this helps you manage realistic expectations in any project β including your GIS mentorship role.
π Warm-Up (Tech Journal β’ 5 min)
Prompt: Imagine youβre asked to plan prom with only 1 week of preparation. What would you have to cut or change to make it work?
π Vocabulary
- Scope β what the project is supposed to deliver (the work and goals)
- Time β the schedule and deadlines for completing the project
- Cost β the resources (money, people, effort) needed to finish the project
- Constraint β a limitation or restriction that shapes the project
